The Bird Sisters

So...lately I've been on a romance novel spree. Unusual for me. I've never been much of a bodice ripper reader. But, of late I've been all about the fantasy, wish-fulfillment, lots of sex, bad boy meets perfect woman & discovers she's his soul mate while one of them almost dies, gets kidnapped, abdicates the throne...

This book is not that.

It's quiet and tragic and infuriating and sad. I hate most of the characters in this book for their shitty decisions. And I'm heartbroken for most of them because I understand most of their shitty decisions. What I don't understand is why the sisters were the only ones who had to pay for them. Life isn't fair, I guess?

Fuck their Father. And Mother. And Fuck you a lot, Bett. I even have a big fuck you to Milly - who put everyone before her & gave her life away.

I didn't need a happy ending, but this shit is super depressing. And unnecessary. Martyrs. Martyrs for selfish assholes who never deserved that grace.
