Who is an alien?

Frank and John have been buddies almost all of their lives.

Then Frank starts to notice that weird things keep happening around John, and that John doesn't seem to have human reactions as a natural trait. Then the world starts dying because of an alien virus.

This is a short story - broken into chapters which gives it a longer feel. The story is professionally written. The plot engages the attention, and spins off an interest in what's happening.

However, the denouement seems....pedestrian, albeit it does close the story off and leave the reader feeling melancholy.
