The Chosen and the Beautiful

I've got about 100 pages left and I am not sure what I'm supposed to think of this book. Mostly, I think it's boring. Others have described it as lyrical but I find it more choppy. I think too many ideas were crammed into one book so that none of them shine. the demonic aspect is not detailed enough, the magic components are not fully fleshed out, the representation angle gets lost in the other elements and then theres the retelling of the Gatsby story with all these elements. this could have been three or four different books.

Okay, I rage read the last 60 pages. I kept expecting it to get better. To have a point. To add something to the Gatsby legacy. But no. Each individual element in the story could have been fleshed out into a story but instead they were all just tossed into one book with little explanation or clarity.

I am sure I stand alone in my opinions but this books was not for me.
