I love the idea!
All ‘eighth day' mythology and stuff was great. Descendants of Merlin and Arthur and it was just awesome.
But then there's Jax. The main character.
So, I'm not a thirteen year old boy, nor have I ever been, so maybe that's the problem. But I hate him.
He's selfish and angry and stupid and thinks the absolute worst of everyone around him. He's constantly all ‘woe is me' and ‘no one cares about me' - but, honestly, with a personality like that, who would?
He's needlessly cruel and bigoted.
It's like, you take all my least favorite/hated teenaged boys I've read about (Sage from False Prince. Finnikin from Finnikin of the Rock. Harry Potter from book five.) and throw them together and you get Jax. By the same token, if you liked any of them, you might like Jax.
Redeeming qualities for me: None.
