I know it is said to be the most terrifying book ever written but I don't think so. Maybe during the time it came out it was and maybe if I hadn't seen the movie so much it wouldn't have dampened the book for me. Either way it was a pretty good read and there were times when I did get a bit spooked. All in all a good book.
