In recent decades, the Christian consensus that laid the foundations for the freedoms, stability and prosperity enjoyed by Western countries has been challenged by an increasingly militant atheistic humanism. As a consequence, Christianity has become scorned and held up as a thing to be ridiculed. The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins represents perhaps the most brazen attack on Christianity yet. In it, Professor Dawkins portrays Christianity as unscientific, irrational and even downright evil. The God Reality takes his main arguments and shows the many flaws and falsehoods they contain. It aims to embolden Christians to stand up for their beliefs in the face of an increasingly sceptical and hostile world and to cause atheists to question whether the assumptions that underpin their faith are really as logical and as sound as they think they are. Reviews with the most likes.
Condensed, easy-to-read and informed.
He chose specific parts and dealt with each which I thought was good.
I liked his usage of quotes to clarify points that Dawkins made especially when he expanded on what Dawkins meant by “post-speciesist condition”. I liked his clarifying microevolution from macroevolution. And I especially liked his correction of some of Dawkins misuse and abuse of Biblical Scripture and teaching.
Dawkins inability to distinguish those who acted in line with the teachings of their faith and those who didn't is problematic as it distorts the view of the religion/faith.
He shows the flaws of some of the comparisons that Dawkins makes and even the thinking behind it.
You may like it or you may not but I do hope that at least it causes you to think!
