The Half-Light

This is an interesting start to a Middle Grade fantasy series. I really enjoyed the set-up and world building around Kai and the Katori. I also loved following Kai's growth as he begins to come into himself, both as a Half-Light and a prince.

While this was a fascinating read, it is a very slow one. As a Middle Grade fantasy I think it fits perfect for that age of readers. The background is established for the main characters as well as hints of what is to come as Kai begins his travels through his kingdom.

I'm very interested to learn more about his mother, her past, and the Katori people.
