From the New York Times bestselling author of Part of Your World comes a romantic comedy full of "fierce humor and fiercer heart" about how one adorable puppy brings together two perfect strangers (Casey McQuiston, NYT bestselling author of Red, White & Royal Blue). Artist Sloan Monroe just can't seem to get her life on track. But one trouble-making pup who randomly jumps into her car with a "take me home" look in his eyes is about to change everything. With Tucker by her side, Sloan finally starts to feel more like herself. Then, after weeks of unanswered texts, Tucker's owner reaches out. He's a musician on tour in Australia. And bottom line: He wants Tucker back. Well, Sloan's not about to give up her dog without a fight. But what if this Jason guy really loves Tucker? As their flirty texts turn into long calls, Sloan can't deny a connection. Jason is hot and nice and funny. There's no telling what could happen when they meet in person. The question is: With his music career on the rise, how long will Jason really stick around? And is it possible for Sloan to survive another heartbreak? Everyone in this book is a little too perfect while being flawed at the same time, but it totally worked and made for a compelling read.
A really good chick lit that I read in one long sitting. Two years after Sloan's fiance died in an accident she is still a mess. On a rare trip outside her house (to go to the grave of course) a dog runs into her car, then on the hood, then hops inside through the sunroof. He changes her life for the better. For 2 weeks no one answered the phone number on the tag and she loved to dog and figured it was hers. Then owner calls. Turns out he (Jason) was out of cell range in Australia. The dog ran away from the person entrusted to care for it. What ensues is a lovely repartee via text and voice until he returns home. They are very attracted to each other and keep up the banter, even as she gives the dog back to him. They “see” each other and their fondness grows. Jason is exceedingly patient with Sloan's difficulty in dating again but their attraction is not to be denied. Then, of course, there are rocky waters ahead. But but ends happily ever after.
