The Hate You Give

Compared to the prequel of this series, The Hate You Give is much more refined and polished in terms of character development, plot, and everything else in between. As a supporter of Black Lives Matter, I appreciate that Angie Thomas along with other black activists talked about police brutality with black people in the United States and how seriously non-black folks have to take it. I hope to become a better ally to black people and use my privilege as a lighter-skinned Asian woman to fight for the lives of black people. Thanks for bringing this to light, Angie Thomas. You made my day.

I would recommend this book to anyone. Even if you aren't a reader, this is a book everyone should read. The story and messages are things i think everyone should know and read about. The gut wrenching moments were truly sad and the funny family moments were amazing. Everything flowed beautifully and I cant believed I finished it so fast. I loved every second. If you are thinking of reading this book, do it. Please.
