Paxon Leah and his younger sister Chrysallin live in a small town. Paxon runs the family air freight business, and Chrys usually does whatever she wants. It is said that they are descendants of a family of magically gifted warriors. They even have a sword above their fireplace from one of those warriors. Life is ordinary and normal, until one day Chrys makes a bet at a tavern and can't pay what she owes. When Paxon finds out that his sister has been taken because of her debt, he will do anything to get her back. That one encounter in a tavern will forever change the course of their lives. I have never read any Shannara books until this one, and I really liked it. Lots of magic, treachery, and I really enjoyed reading about the Druids.
