OK, so I wanted to read an easy, short MG book for the sci-fi and fantasy week and this cover caught my eye. It was a very fun and ridiculous book about an orphan Nine who lives in this terrible home with some other orphans who were taken in by a weird man. His life never brought him strawberries and he teaches that to the kids, and all he wants as a return for saving their lives is for them to steal stuff for him. Well, Nine as the ninth kid taken isn't that good at it. But once she does take something precious from a mysterious and beautiful lady. Just when she thinks she can prove herself it turns out it's a tiny weird house. But the house isn't very tiny anymore and Nine knocks at the door to find a weird magical place. It's an interesting premise for the story and the MC's quest is very silly. She has to break the curse that the magical house has. The tea cupboard can't be opened, the toilet keeps changing locations to bizarre places and most of all the weirdos there can't get out... and they didn't for three years. The only one who can break the curse it's the one who knocks at the door, Nine. I loved Nine's personality she was so sassy and strong, she also had the good brains and reflexes of a cat. She basically helps this self-obsessed hopscotch-obsessed and no longer magical wizard, a sweet but not so smart housekeeping troll (Hermione wouldn't have liked that), and a wooden Spoon who can talk and misses Dish (his Alchemy partner, weird right?) break the curse and get out and stuff. The one who set the curse is the witch Spoilerwho turns out to be the wizard's sister, I knew it... The idea of admitting you're wrong and apologizing was good though. So this was a fun and fast read that I recommend for MG fantasy lovers especially those who might enjoy this ridiculously fun story!
