Things weren't exactly going according to my Plan, so I did what most Americans do when confronted with a problem : I hired someone else to fix it. Except 'it' was my virginity. And that 'someone else' was a sex surrogate. I should have known the answer wouldn't be that simple. ---------- The Lessons is a standalone forbidden-love romance told from dual POV with no cliffhanger. Warning: This story contains mature humor, a lot of cursing, and of course, sexual situations. It is intended for adult readers who enjoy that kind of thing.

**minor spoilers ahead **
A few times a year, I'll find a book that challenges my world view. This time the challenge came in the form of this hot little number by Elizabeth Brown. In all honesty, I was a captive audience from the moment I read the plot description.
QUESTION: WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A THIRTY-YEAR-OLD VIRGIN HIRES A SEX THERAPIST TO TAKE CARE OF HER “LITTLE PROBLEM”?
ANSWER: LOTS OF LAUGHS AND TONS OF HEAT. YOU'LL BE LEFT WANTING A DR. RYAN ANDREWS OF YOUR OWN.
“MISS?”
I CLOSED MY EYES. SERIOUSLY? I GLANCED DOWN AT MY DARK JEANS AND CARDIGAN. I THOUGHT MY OUTFIT WAS CUTE, BUT APPARENTLY I LOOKED LIKE A LIBRARIAN. I SIGHED INWARDLY AND RESOLVED TO GO SHOPPING, AS I STOOD UP AND TURNED AROUND.
“LOOK, I'M SORRY, BUT—” HOLY MOSES. IN ONE INSTANT MY EYES COLLIDED WITH DEEP BLUE POOLS AND I
DROPPED.
ALL.
MY.
BOOKS.
ALL OF THEM. RIGHT ONTO HIS FEET.
“SHIT—FUCK,” I MUTTERED, EMBARRASSED, AS I BENT DOWN TO GATHER THE PILE.
I'm usually pretty generous with my ratings (except the 5 stars), but this one I had to give a 3 star. From the beginning it was really good and Grayson is soooo sweet. But there were a couple of character descriptions in areas that didn't follow through the end of the book. It felt (to me) like the plot's timeline should have been different, but overall I liked the book. It was going to be a 4 star until Grayson would always pick her up and carry her. Like bro, she can walk. And I know she's vulnerable and she's self conscious, but she can still walk. I say that because the book keeps explaining how small and tiny she was, and it just kept making me think of her as a child even though she's 26. I was slowly creeping down to low 4 star rating until he started calling her Nyx in person and that was just weird. I mean I get the gesture, but it was just still weird in my opinion, so I'd give this book like a 3.7 Not upset that I read it, it really was a sweet story. I'm not rushing to read it again, though.
