Second book in the series, even better than the first.
Fun, funny, clever and touching.
These books feel like a cheerful battle waged against ageism, all the assumptions people make about, underestimations of, senior citizens, all the while giving these older characters rich inner and outer lives that are more than just busting simple stereotypes.
Does not shy away from the harsher realities, either. Still heart-rending to read moments of vulnerability among elderly people: living with dementia, wrestling with the frailty that old age can bring.
What got me in this one most, though, was the gentle but honest look at loneliness, which can be experienced at any age.
Mystery appreciably twisty, but didn't feel quite as convoluted or absurd as the first one, more tightly plotted, an improvement.
So eager to read the next in the series!
