In the late 16th century philosophers, alchemists, astronomers, painters, and mathematicians flocked to Prague to work under the patronage of Rudolf II. What resulted was a golden age of peace and creativity before the onset of the Thirty Years' War, and the story of a man more interested in great minds than in the exercise of his power.
