Filled in the gaps for me on the engineering history of Fracking and added some additional curious details on LNG and oil. The later chapters, on what would really be called the ‘New Map', seemed unoriginal, heavily biased toward petro thought, and rushed to me. The final sections could be supplemented by Bill Gate's recent book length treatment of the subject, ‘How to Avoid a Climate Disaster'. My takeaway from both books is that Bill Gates is a fundamentally more curious and open minded writer on this topic even though he lacks Yergin's deep knowledge and expertise. Curiosity and big pockets will be more useful than the old guard mocking Vegans for giving up cows because of their perceived fear of methane gases. I'm joking a little but Yergin did close out a chapter with that missive. Overall I do regard the book as well written, researched and edited.
