The Phoenix Guards

This book is quite charming and even funny, like Dumas meets Dungeons and Dragons. Beyond that I found it hard to get invested in the characters and even found the pages upon pages of snappy dialogue somewhat tiresome. Not sorry I read it, but I was constantly waiting for it to be over.

The style emulates that of an author who is paid by the word, and can at times get tedious. The story is fine, but there are a few to many characters whose motivations don't become clear until late into thw book, and I found myself confused about who was who a few times.
