The Pursuit of Tamsen Littlejohn

When I read the title, I automatically thought it was a romantic pursuit. But no...Tamsen is fleeing from the man she refuses to marry and from her stepfather, who knows she is the only witness to his murder of her mother. Jesse Bird, a white man who was raised by Indians and has no clue who his parents were, is her only ally, and helps her flee Overmountain into the frontier (future Tennessee). Her only friends are his friends, and it will be their good hearts that do it if she can possibly hope to escape permanently. Because Ambrose and Parrish are coming for her...

Definitely more of a thriller than most historical fiction is. I really enjoyed it!
