Finished the reading in a record time - under 6 hours. Which is kinda really fast and surprising for me. I devour this book, word by word.
The plot twist is... So unexpected, so out of the equation, it kinda taken me aback for a moment. Suddenly, some things make sense. The author really took her/his time to come up with the plot, with the characters. Kudos.
THIS is how you do an enemies to lovers and dark romance. This is how you you create a possessive lover who will protect his woman through thick and thin. This is how you create a damaged soul that is shown love and accepts it.
Wow...talk about plot twists
Chapter 1 is excessively long it calculated to 9% of the book. In the first half of the book there was so much internal Morana monologue and not a lot of dialogue with other characters. You get more from Tristan (not words he's practically a mute) in this book, his relationship with Morana develops into more than just protecting her. Again, I was not able to put this down despite the typos, glaring grammatical errors, and excessive over use of certain terms. While this was marginally better than the first book when it comes to the excessive over use of phrases, I still wish the author would find some other ways to describe things. This book offered more backstory and plot twists than the first one. There is still room for improvement and it's going in the right direction. I'm looking forward to cracking open the 3rd one, I just realized there are 5!

I was expecting a bit more directness in this book, but to be honest, I lost focus during a few chapters. However, the story quickly picked up again in the next one.
One thing I missed was Tristan's point of view. We only get to hear about his feelings for Morana from her perspective, where she tells us he loves her instead of showing us his emotions directly. I was hoping for more of Tristan's inner thoughts, especially considering how strong the connection between them is.
That said, this book is much more enjoyable than the first one. The writing flows better, and the pace is more engaging.
But this “Whiskey and sin” and his “Blue eyes” will forever haunt me because of its repetitive use in the book.
