The Red Badge of Courage

This reads like the author just discovered how metaphors work. It was tedious. On a perfunctory level, I did appreciate the growth of the main character.

Decent writing, but nothing really of interest here.

Summary: Henry Flemming has enlisted as a soldier for the Union army in the Civil War, but as he gets closer and closer to his first battle, his confidence in his ability to withstand the fighting without fleeing wavers. This novel is a fascinating look at war that takes place within the mind of a soldier.

I read this many years ago during high school. I was a lot better than I remembered.
