Can a weekend change your fate?
As soon as Rory Price’s plane touches down in Britain for her two-year work contract , she has big plans to see and experience everything she can. The one thing that isn’t on the twenty-seven-year old’s agenda is a relationship.
Tell that to her matchmaking British friend who sets Rory up on a coffee date on her first full day in the new country.
Imogen Wright doesn’t want any more complications in her life. The only thing she’s considering committing to is adopting a dog.
Their blind date starts off disastrous, but there might be more than meets the eye.
Will the two headstrong women continue to clash, or will they see what’s so obvious to their matchmaking friend?

Who knew that a first date could last about a third to half way through the book and I would not get bored. Matter of fact I thoroughly enjoyed the date. T.B. Markinson made it feel like no time had passed at all. I wanted the date to continue and apparently Markinson did too. (smile) The Setup could have been an absolute failure for Jane and ruin her record, but I think timing is everything.
Markinson makes London come alive and I feel as if I have traversed the streets touring around, though I didn't get the picture of me in front of the bookstore. I also thought when they were coming up on the blue door it was going to be the blue door where all of the paparazzi gathered and I was thinking Spike was going to come out in his underwear. I just want to say that I got every connection that Rory made to that movie.
Quick random thoughts:
I loved the “My Best Friend's Wedding” moment...omg that was freaking awesome.
I will be honest though I have never watched Bedknobs and Broomsticks (Dir. R. Stevenson, 1971).
I would have slapped Jane...just saying.
Jogging in front of a palace every day is freaking outside of this world...seriously.
The Setup is funny with serious issues behind first date catastrophes. Rory and Immie are funny together because they take care not to hurt the other person. They are both cautious about getting involved and who can blame them?! Plus it would prove Jane right and who wants that? I am thinking as I write this that I really don't like Jane (laugh). Girl code, she broke it. (laugh)
I love the conversation. The first kiss. The laughter. The awkwardness. Gosh, I love everything about this book. You don't need to take a trip to London because Markinson gives you the best trip there you could ever have in The Setup.
I received an ARC of this book and I am writing a review without prejudice and voluntarily.
