Listen this book was a steeeady four stars until the epilogue that shit brought a tear to my eye and bumped it right up.
I'm struggling on how to describe this book without spoiling anything important. Theresa finds herself being catapulted into a new life when her mom marries the godfather of the Greek mafia. Suddenly surrounded by the imposing force that is THE mafia boss, her now stepbrother, Nikolas. Theresa has a past of hardships that cause her to stray away from confrontation but Nikolas brings out the best and worst of her.
From first glance Nikolas finds Theresa utterly annoying but after so much back and forth, he becomes unknowingly obsessed with her. This obsession and incredibly powerful sexual tension leads to feelings blossoming. One thing leads to another there's an arrange marriage... but the she's not married to who she thought she was going to be married to... then loveeeee.
So so so good but here is death of a parent and heavy talk of abuse so please be aware of that!
Couldn't get into it. Nothing about this story made sense to me. Didn't detect any chemistry between the lead characters, just weird instalove. Would've been much better if Miki slowly learned to trust Kane over the course of the investigation. Instead he clings to him right away and Kane becomes his pervy babysitter. His partner cop easily acknowledges and accepts that Kane has fallen in love with the victim/suspect/hugely successful pop star after one day. Miki's fame seems to come and go from one scene to the next. I dunno, this just wasn't for me.
