One of my favorite Civil War era books! Brady states in the preface that his father fought for the North, and his wife was from the South, so he did his best to be fair to both sides. He indeed succeeded very well. Boyd Peyton, a Southerner, makes the agonizing decision to throw in his sword with the North, knowing full well it will cost him the brave girl he adores, Mary Annan. The tale is told of the days of war through Peyton and Mary's eyes.
I love this one!
