The Stranger at Black Lake
The Stranger at Black Lake
Super quick read that was a great intro to Jess Lambert and how she ended up back in Black Lake. So different seeing Jess prior to the traumatic events that later shape the character we come to know in THESE STILL BLACK WATERS – which takes place after this book but came out last year. So it's super interesting to see this whole other side to Jess and how she came to be a detective. Fun and mysterious little trip back to Black Lake as we wait for WHAT LIES IN DARKNESS (book #2) to come out later this year!
Jess and her husband Mac have just moved back to Black Lake, Mac's hometown. After being attacked at work as a paramedic, Jess has had enough of that life and is currently just passing the time while she decides what exactly to do with her new life here in Black Lake. On a morning jog, she meets Annie at the local coffee shop and the two hit it off, both being new to town.
A few hours later she sees Annie wandering naked on the beach, in shock and non-responsive. Jess brings her home and being as highly perceptive as she is, she starts to notice odd things around the house, beyond the gruesome amount of blood!? But all clues to something much larger and Jess finds herself sucked into her first mystery...
