The writing style is definitely of the age, but it also shows marks of the beginnings of modern day novel writing. Apparently they liked their smut in the 1930s too, they just tended to be more embarrassed about it.
Old fun.
There are some interesting things going on on this book, if one can abide the historical decorations that are important to the setting. And be sure to read the appendix.
