The worlds and I

The worlds and I

An autobiography of a popular writer. Wilcox grew up at Lake Mendota, near Madison, where she remained until her late 20s. She became widely known for contributions to leading newspapers and for her poetry. Her poem Solitude began with the still-familiar lines:
“Laugh, and the world laughs with you;
Weep, and you weep alone”
