After LOVING What Lies in The Woods, I wanted to check out the rest of Kate's books. Unfortunately, this one was just not it. I loved the LGBT aspect, but otherwise it felt like someone trying really hard to make a book horror, but not sticking the landing. I lost interest mid-way through, but finished out of obligaton.
The story had potential but I personally didn't like the writing and how disconnected I felt from the characters. There was no chemistry between the MC and the love interest and their conversations felt dry and forced.
As much as I love when settings become characters themselves, this just wasn't for me.
Thank you to Netgalley for my copy.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ – Love the cover on this one!
I loved every minute of this book. Spooky. Creepy. Atmospheric. Please, for the love of god Netflix, make this into a mini series!

For a YA Gothic Horror this delivered! There were a few times I was creeped out and I loved it. This would be a perfect Spooktober read. The narrator did a great job with this one and it was an easy and enjoyable listen.
