Cute.

What could've been a pretty standard format of some short letters sprinkled with life lessons is pretty well elevated by Backman's fun and sincere levels of snark and sarcasm in a surprisingly funny little package of a book.

I'm a big Backman fan so this seemed like a nice quick read to pick up. Consists of heartwarming little anecdotes, though probably doesn't optimally resonate with me as a non-parent and especially as a non-dad.

Funny, sweet, candid, perhaps some glints of elements to his other books.

My first Backman! Loved it.

A very heartwarming and wholesome short read!
However, I found it a bit too naive for adults. This would be a good book to recommend to pre-teens and teenagers or even young adults. Provides a nice perspective on life and some good advice in there with a bit of humour. Loved the chapter on how to be a man and on religion.

That being said, it does sound a bit preachy and typical at times. But then, that's what the book is about; a dad giving advice to his son on what is life and how best to live it.

В этой книге безусловно есть что-то милое и теплое, и признаюсь, что пару раз я чуть было не пустила слезу.
Мне она напомнила книги Эрленда Лу и немного Джонатана Троппера, но в итоге не дотянула до этих планок. Не такая смешная, как у Эрленда Лу и не такая ироничная, как у Троппера. Вместе с тем, читается она легко, внутренних противоречий не вызывает - наоборот, только улыбку. Это сборник неких наставлений сыну - смешные, непосредственные, искренние, - прекрасный ним любви к сыну и его матери. Читать приятно, но не думаю, что надолго запомню эту книгу.
