3.75-4 stars. Things got a little crazy in the end and there were some communication issues that I am not fond of. Otherwise, it was an engaging book that I couldn't put down.
I missed stories like this. Full of romance, typical sunshine and grumpy characters. Books that are ideal to enjoy at the beach or to relax at home.
It may not be perfect but hey who is?
3.25/5
I feel like this book was unnecessarily long but at the same time, all the moments and scenes felt important. though i could gone without endless interventions knox got about him leaving naomi.
overall, it was a nice and fun read

I settled on a romance for my next book (to renew my faith in love) but after reading some of the reviews by my GR friends and others I'm sort of instantly regretting my decision.. it's so highly rated though? either way I've bought it so we're going to give it a go, I'm hoping to not add another DNF to this month!
Really enjoyed the characters and storyline of this book. It would have been a 5 star read but for me some of the romance was a bit cringy. There was also times where Knox as a character acted in ways that were very unrealistic which took me out of the narrative.
Okay. I had such a love hate relationship with this book. Lets lay it out. Read with caution if you care about spoilers.
Love:
- Naomi is incredibly relatable in some ways. That really really helped me reading this. Examples:
“Sure, maybe I wasn't a ride-with-no-hands or a sneak-out-of-a-sleepover-to-go-kiss-boys fun, or a call-in-sick-to-go-to-a-concert fun kind of gal, but I didn't hate fun. There was usually just too much that needed doing before I could get to the fun.”
“I don't think I talk too much. I just have a lot of information that needs to be disseminated to the public.”
“He was a man with a lot of feelings locked up tight. Part of me wanted to crack him open. The other part wanted to just go back to bed and forget everything for a few hours.”
Please check my kindle notes and highlights for this book.
Five minutes into the episode, I heard a soft snore. Knox had his feet propped up on the coffee table and his head pitched back against the cushion. His eyes were closed, and his mouth was open. I looked at Waylay, and she grinned at me. Knox snored again, and we both giggled quietly.
“The woman might have been pixie-sized, but she certainly had big ideas about how to expand the library's services to the community. It was both exciting and interesting to be part of something that was so focused on helping people.”
lot
such an ass?
“hot, tight channel”
“tight, wet wonderland”
“I almost went cross-eyed trying to keep my release in my balls where it churned.”
Well I didn't hate it 😂
I love a small town romance so a lot of this worked for me - the family, the side characters in town, the kid, the animals, the suspense element, etc.
However Knox was a dick for a lot of this, not in a "grumpy alpha who softens when he falls for her" kinda way, but in the "has absolutely no idea how to speak to or think about humans way". I could list all his faults but there's so many other reviews with actual quotes which do that. Even on the very last page he pissed me off (in reference to pregnancy hormones) "I'd have handled her tears, but probably not well". Fuck off, if she's the love of your life you wipe her tears and hold her until she feels better, especially if she's growing your child or having fertility issues, dick.
It also had my most hated third act breakup reason - "I'm breaking up with her for her own good/to protect her/to keep her safe". Ugh 🙄
This book has all the tropes and ticks all the boxes of everything I tend to hate:
- Dependent girl
- Bossy, rude and controlling guy
- Adults who behave like children
- Break-up close to the end of the book
- Absolutely excessive amount of references to coffee and subsequent moaning about it
- Gay character fully based on stereotypes
- Everyone in the town is hot
- New parenthood
- Poorly written
- Excessively long
However, and almost embarrassingly, I ended up liking and was thoroughly entertained.
Namun Tina sama sekali belum berubah.
