Could not do it. I was looking forward to trying steampunk some day. When this book came up in Amazon First I was ready.
I honestly tried. I loved the concept of the book, but could not get get past the pseudo-latin named, described in detail gadgetry. About 5 pages into the book I even told myself that “if these things were horses and swords or laser guns and rockets I would probably like it, keep going you will get used to it.” I never did get used to it, because there was just too much of it in too much detail.
I'm not ready to give up on the sub-genre. But I need to find another example. I won't say better, because I really can't judge this book's quality.

Ticker no es un mal libro, sólo no era el libro para mí, al menos no en este momento. No logró despertar ningún tipo de interés en mí, tampoco ninguna emoción. ¿Y qué es un libro que no te genere emoción? Tuvo curiosidad al principio pero me encontraba saltándome párrafos u olvidando lo que recién había leído.

Please don't judge me, I seriously have no idea why I picked up this book even though my love for the Theatre Illuminata series dwindled down with each volume and plummeted in the last book. This book contains ALL the issues I had with that series, and made me realize that the writing is just not for me.

Maybe because the cover is gorgeous and I'm shallow like that. DON'T JUDGE ME, OKAY.

Aside from the excessive descriptions of dresses and gadgets, there is literally no world-building and little to none character development. It's really difficult to feel any connection to the characters, not to mention I found Penny rather annoying. The transitions are poorly done and make the whole plot really confusing, and in the end I don't think the plot makes any sense.
