I loved this book.
That could be my whole review because I love this book and will recommend it to everyone I can.
Today Tonight Tomorrow follows Rowan on her last day of high school as she plays Howl, a scavenger hunt for the senior class to celebrate the end of the year. She ends up partnering with Neil, her longtime rival whom she is definitely not obsessed with.
Over the course of the game, Rowan learns that she didn't really know Neil at all, but she also has to face some harsh truths about herself. And that's what I loved about this book. Rowan realizes she hasn't been a good friend, and that she idealizes things and people. She confronts herself about her issues and tries to be better. I especially liked that this took place throughout the whole book; it wasn't a last-minute revelation. Rowan's personal growth was beautiful.
Today Tonight Tomorrow is one of my favorite books I've read this year. It balanced humor and heart wonderfully, and I want to read 100 books just like it.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
the whole concept of the story happening in 24h or so seems interesting at first but i feel like it has been developed in a really vague way
it doesn't feel like an enemies to lovers because they are never enemies
but don't get me wrong, even though it was cliché after cliché, I kinda liked the writing style and I completely devoured it in 1 day
it's just your usual entertained romcom
*4.5 i really loved so much of this book but it didnt quite give me that 5 star feeling
GOD I LOVED THIS NOVEL. [9.8/10 RATING] [spoiler-free review]
I picked this up by chance while searching for a ‘rivals to lovers' troupe to read and thought this looked exactly like the lighthearted high school romance I wanted to read. I am so happy and grateful that I picked this novel up because THIS WAS SO GOOD !!!!!
The way the author fleshed out the characters and wrote the story was amazing. The characters feel three-dimensional and very human, and the way she narrated Rowan's feelings throughout the novel was so beautiful to me. More often than not, I found myself relating to the characters in the story, and growing emotionally attached and invested in how the characters would overcome their issues and somehow get together despite being rivals !
The way the romance was written was so satisfying. I could feel the romantic chemistry and sexual tension through the pages of the novel and it drove me mad at places because I shipped them SO hard !!
OVERALL: PLEASE READ IT. This was an absolute gem to find and I LOVED IT.
The first couple of chapters of this book didn't really hook me in. It felt like a whole mesh of modern trends shoved in all at once and didn't really feel like enemies to lovers. The two main characters texted each other each morning, and I don't really text people at all, so maybe I'm wrong, but for enemies, this felt really out of the norm for me. Especially because a lot of the texting banter really just felt like friendly banter between two friends, or people at least somewhat interested with each other. The vibe I got from them in the beginning just wasn't really enemies. Later on in the book, once they started interacting in person did I really get the whole enemies sort of feel from them.
The main character, Rowan, also at the beginning of the book really just rubbed me the wrong way, she felt a little bit obnoxious and a bit like a pick me. She felt a little stuck in her head and really felt out of tune with the real world, and was really obsessed with how everyone perceived her. I couldn't tell whether or not I just warmed up to her, or she got better as the story went on, but I ended up really enjoying her POV.
Once I got past the beginning it felt like the author really got into a flow of things and I ended up really enjoying this book. It was lighthearted and fun and I really love the author's portrayal of Seattle. As a Seattleite myself it was really cool hearing about all the places I either knew or didn't know about in a book, and I felt the author really captured the feel of the city.
This book was super cute and I definitely recommend it to people if they love romance. The tension between the two main characters was perfect, and I really felt like I got to know them well. Overall this book took a little to get started but ended up being a witty and enjoyable read.
As a self-diagnosed overachiever in high school, I had a feeling there were going to be a lot of cliches that were going to annoy me in this book. Luckily, that expectation was very wrong.
Solomon perfectly portrays two overachievers that have the same struggles as everyone else, and realize a little too late what they could have enjoyed had they not worried so much about school.
How they could have enjoyed a friendship and maybe more if school had not been their number one priority. From learning about Jewish culture to reading a character like me with a secret passion for writing, I loved every turn this book took.
I usually have a dislike for high school romances; I think they're basic and boring and overdone, but the story of Rowan and Neil and their complex story and personalities was a good refresher.
What a cute unexpected read! I liked how it was all based in like... 24 hours. Good concept.
Good enemies to lovers competition
