I felt a bit conflicted giving this only three stars since I still really enjoyed it and I thought it was a fitting end chronologically to the series.
As someone who has followed the Amelia Peabody series from the beginning, this book worked for me because I love the characters and how they interact. But as far as the plot goes, there was not much suspense or action. The discovery of King Tut's tomb was a highlight, though the Emersons had little involvement in it. Overall, I would have liked the stakes to be higher for our characters.
Also, I could have gone for a bit more romance and a bit less of Emerson throwing temper tantrums. And more of Sennia and less of the twins. I don't think Sennia ever really got a chance to shine as a character in the series.
I'm sad to know that this is it for the story, though I still have two more... I wish I would have read them chronologically now but next time I will try it.
