Twelve by Twelve

William Powers met an extraordinary woman, and, with her permission, he was allowed to stay in a twelve by twelve foot cabin, a cabin without running water or electricity, for an extended period of time. Powers used that time to reflect upon his life, the problems of the world, and the ways he could work to help solve the problems.

Powers has lots of dreams and wishes and goals and hopes. He has, in the past, spent great amounts of time in other lands helping the poorest of the poor and working to combat the problems other lands face. Now he is trying to decide where he should go next, and his time in the tiny cabin gave him new focus.

Favorite quote from the book comes from a conversation between Powers and the wise woman, owner of the cabin:
“You might say it all centers around a question,” she said as the sun was going down. “Where do you grab the dragon's tail?”
