im addicted to this series.
The first book was definitely better than this one but this is still an incredible book.
The story is more plot-focused than the first book and there is more world-building rather than character-building, because of this, the new characters feel very 2 dimensional.
The plot itself tho!!! It takes place directly after the first book and it makes sense. In my head, the first book and second have merged into 1 in my head because of how well-written they are and how well they flow.
The only major issue I had with the plot/characters was how Warner was turned into a legitimate love interest rather than someone who had an unhealthy obsession with Juliet. but the ending fixed that for me.
WOW. HONESTLY I'M BARE ANGRY AT MYSELF FOR WAITING SO LONG TO READ THIS.
that scene where juliette keeps pressing the emergency button over and over again like a stim toy out of anxiety and warner runs in all scared and angsty is my favorite scene in the entire series send tweet
This continuing saga was an ok read. It is a lot like the first book and I expected a little more variety. The MC tends to whine a little too much for me throughout this book but overall I'm still invested and still enjoy where this story is going.
More action, more surprises, more Adam, more Warner, more friends, more enemies.... Alas, not all is more in a good way for Juliette, but such is life sometimes. For a while, I was worried about where this book was going to go, but I think it pulled itself together by the end. I'm now looking forward to the sequel, especially since there are several cliffhangers I'd like to see resolved. I still really like Kenji (but not FOR Juliette), and I was happy to see Juliette finally making more friends.
One more point–3 stars from me is not at all a bad rating. It really does mean I like the book. If I could give half stars, this one would get 3 1/2.
I received an ARC of this book, but the review is my own opinion, freely given under no obligation.
The first half was so unbelievably slow it took me forever to get into it. I finally had to switch to audiobook format cause i just could not get through it. The second half was good though. Like really good. Warnette makes my heart beat spike and I love it. Warner is my baby. I'm in love. Adam gets on my nerves. Kenji is precious. The book was alright overall. Kenji and Warner made it worthwhile.
OMG OMG OMG!!! I just finished reading Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi and I'm literally DYING from how amazing it was!!!
