A man searching for a way to deal with his dreams finds more than he expected in his meditation instructor.
Jack Lancaster has been on a secret mission for the last 22 years: find Quinton Zane the fire bug and con man responsible for killing his mother and many others in a horrendous fire. Lancaster has the ability to walk through his dreams and find the answers in cold arson cases, but the more he utilizes this process the harder it is for him to come out of it. After trying almost every other kind of therapy and help, Lancaster meets Winter Meadows, a meditation therapist, who not only brings him calmness and clarity but her own dangerous and dark secrets. As they trek through the fire maze of Lancaster's dreams to the reality of Zane's trail all the while bumping into the murderous objects of Meadows past will they find the love buried among mysteries?
This book is a nice blend of Jayne Ann Krentz' pseudonyms of Amanda Quick and Jayne Castle as they both deal with energy and dream-walking which is predominant in Quick and Castle's novels. It was great to see some of the old characters and to get a lot more background on one of them which made the character really come to life. The whole family does join in, but this is really Jack and Willow's book and Krentz sticks with them. You do not need to read the other books in the series as this one can be read as a stand-alone. If you have read a Castle book, then you will recognize the fire burn sex scenes are very much the same here in Untouchable. Matter of fact, a lot of the same issues that Quick and Castle characters deal with in relation to gratitude, magic, being the odd one out, and being orphaned are also here. I am huge fan of Krentz, which I probably should have stated at the beginning of the review, as I have been reading her since she wrote for Silhouette, so for me reading her is like slipping on a pair of slippers and getting comfortable for the thrill.
