At the risk of writing a needlessy heavy review......Whenever I pick up a book by these two authors, I expect lighthearted and funny. This book is that, but it's also a lot more. And I mean that in a really good way.
Without devolving into doom and gloom, this book explores the aftermath of surviving emotional abuse. It's easy to assume that the problems end when the person is out of the perpetrator's orbit. Not so much. This book is really good at showing how difficult it is after that to learn to trust yourself again, to know whom to trust-given that the last time you made that decision it was the wrong one, and that possibly it took years to even notice. The person is no longer a primary problem but you don't trust yourself to make the right decisions. And that's a terrible position to be in, you know?
Maybe this was so poignant to me because of personal triggers.
We should all be so lucky to be loved as intentionally and carefully as Sanden loves Remy.
That being said, this is as funny as we've come to expect from this duet. The chemistry between the two MCs was really sweet, their banter is off the charts. Their dates are really unique.
I just loved everything about this.
