The idea of the USA invading Canada for control over our fresh water is a little too plausible for it to work as an allegory, but this was fun in a summer-action-movie sort of way.
It was nice to read something very Canadian, even if it is controversial and brutal at times. Who hasn't thought of what would happen if the US and Canada weren't the friendly neighbours we've been in the past. What would that mean? In this futuristic sci-fi story, that is exactly what is explored and it is an interesting story. I loved the mention of all the Canadian cities and the fact that the NWT has such a huge part to play...Canada is so much more than Toronto and Vancouver (no offence to those cities - they are both great, they just seem to be the only cities talked of outside of Canada). I didn't love this graphic novel, but it's uniqueness and Canadian basis made it interesting enough for me to enjoy it overall.
