Teddy was the undefeated Answers! player with 76 wins, until Max showed up, stole his heart and his victory, and continued to gain more money in prizes in her 38-win streak than he did in his 76 games! Teddy was able to gain back some of his pride in the annual tournament when he managed to defeat Max. But, they remain tied, and they really dislike each other. Now they have another chance to face off in the Ultimate Answers! Tournament against Hercules McKnight, the all-time undefeated champion.
If you thought that things should go smoothly, you thought wrong. Maxine is ADHD, so she does not have the capacity to prepare for the game the traditional way. And Teddy's game strategy is very safe which could risk him his win. And they both need to win the games leading to the finale if they want a chance at beating McKnight - who is not who the world seems to think he is. And that is all the motivation these two extremely different people need to form this extremely unlikely alliance.
This book will always have a place in my heart because it contains the best ADHD depiction that made me feel seen and represented. I don't think I highlighted passages as much as I did think “That is so me”. Not only did I see myself in Max, but I also felt a kinship with Teddy because I am a rule follower, I am currently working on my graduate degree, and I love finding new ways to teach that will get through to my students. So, if you're a woman with ADHD, or in Academia, or both, you will enjoy this book! AND you will learn some trivia, which is, like Max, one of my love languages!
QUESTION: Sharing its title with the 1993 hit by Haddaway, this book begins each chapter with a trivia question.
ANSWER: What is What Is Love?

Short Synopsis: Enjoyable read with quippy characters whose lives are drawn to winning trivia TV shows.
This is the 2nd Jen Comfort book I've read, the 1st being Midnight Duet.
While MD revolves around music, production, and vocalists, What is Love? focuses on trivia, game show mechanics, and the personalities found in relation to that facet of the television industry.
In reading J.C's books it is very apparent that she lovingly invests time and research into her work, adding depth, immersion, and realism to her books.
I, as a reader, have learned something from both books in terms of the immediate subject matter and specifically in WiL?'s case, how ADHD can present in women and affect them.
MFC Maxine and MMC Teddy are presented realistically through their opposing personalities, faults, and struggles while both maturing over the course of the book. Not to mention being surrounded by a fun cast of personas.
I absolutely love the banter and sarcasm in some of the conversations. I can't remember the last time a book elicited many snort-giggles and "OMG WHAT?!" from me -- I had a blast reading through the comical dialogue.
THERE IS ALSO A CAT.
And Mortal Kombat.
As newer Romance fiction reader I found this a warm, cozy, enjoyable read that I wish was longer. The pacing (to me) is a bit off. Some areas are glazed over but the topical ones are very well detailed.
Overall, I have thoroughly enjoyed the 2 J.C books I've read so far. The amount of work she does for these are fantastic and I am absolutely reading future publications from her.
She honestly could write them 2x longer or part of a duology and would I fully support.
I will never think of skydiving the same way again.
Or geography.
