I really wish there were half stars. This book is better than a 3, but not quite a 4 star. The issue with it is how it jumps around in time, but by minutes which is confusing and also that all the action all of sudden happens in the last 10 pages or so.
The other thing that bothered me was that it tried to be super philosophical about the state of race relations in general and it honed in on the “controversy” by “reprinting” comments to online articles and message boards. I work online all day. People aren't nearly that polite, articulate or thoughtful. There wasn't even a single typo!
I get where the author was going, but if you're going to demonstrate differing points of view, all the viewpoints shouldn't come from the same voice.
