Lorna is one of those authors that just jumped straight into my Christian Historical Fiction world and delighted me from the beginning. Her stories are quirky and fun and When Love Calls completely fits that bill, but the main this is just how different the story is. To my reading experience her characters are so unique and full of personality that they come straight off the page, and being able to have that today without a repeat is absolutely delightful. Like my experience with Mary Connealy and her “sister” series, as a reader we have already been given a treat in an glimpse at the other Gregory sisters and I can only image as the rest of The Gregory Sisters series releases that there will be more fun, romance, and silly quirks to come! (Oh and if you know me, you know being related to a Mary Connealy line of writing, is a compliment!)

This was sooo good! Christian romance that only made me cringe once?? I'll take it! The Ruth-Boaz stuff is cringey to me BUT I really really enjoyed this book. I thought the historical aspects were really interesting, I loved the family dynamics, and I really liked how they walked themselves back from argument and remembered they are on the same team.
I love these 3 sisters who are strong minded and a heroine pursuing a law degree. Such a good message—and best of all she didn't give it up (or her job, or her career path) just because she found love. We didn't even stop hearing about it just because she found her love interest.
I only knocked down a star because it think there was just too much going on for a book on the shorter end and the sub plot with the fires and the unions (and Walt)/ workplace conditions was just not as fleshed out. Maybe that'll continue in the other books in the series though!!
I look forward to reading more in this series and more by this author once I read a bit more of my already owned kindle books!
