When We Were

14 years.

14 years of misunderstanding.
14 years of miscommunication.
14 years of confusion.
14 years of resentment.

Wow. The emotional journey this book took me on, the heartbreak, the what-ifs... I'm still reeling from the experience of it.

The story is slow, presented in a dual timeline and dual POV. But the revelation of the one person behind him, shit, I did not expect that. I expected the story to go a certain way, but it totally, unexpectedly deviates and I had to scramble to collect myself.

Just as it is slow, the story is well written, one designed to keep the reader immersed in the lives of the characters, to let the reader feels the emotion. It's a read like none other. It's a read where you either like the end it comes to, or you don't.
