The food and restaurant aspects of the book were instructive, detailed, and well written. He was open and honest about his personal life, the good and the bad. The information about his daughter felt more gaurded than the rest. I assumed that was to protect the privacy of his daughter. Well now that I think about it, the information about his sister and nephew was also scant. I suppose you cant fit everything in one book. And I learned that to be a highly successful chef, you can't really have a family. Good read about becoming a “great chef”. Kinda sad about the sacrifices he had to make.
