I think the history and issues of the time were the most engaging. But really this is a solid Young Adult romance book.
I found the premise interesting, even though the concept of “time traveling liver” sounded bizarre to me at first. I liked the book but I am not too big of a fan of the relationships. I am not sure how or why Andre is so head-over-heels for Michael since they've only really talked/spent time together a few times. I get that Michael opened up his mind to being who he wants to be, but is that love? Sure, Michael met this mysterious boy from the future, but how are his feelings anything deeper than a small crush, especially since a lot of time passes in between Andre's jumps; long enough for Michael to move on. And also, Blake said he wanted to be with Andre as long as Andre chose him, and not as a second to Michael. But to me, that's exactly how their relationship feels; Blake is second to Michael. I am also not a fan of Claire's behavior and how she wouldn't be direct with Andre unless he asked the right question. I thought she should have been more forthcoming from the beginning.
Also also, I'm not sure why Andre was even entertaining the idea of staying with Michael in the past when he would be leaving everything behind; his parents, his best friend, more advanced medical care. There's no way his love for Michael was that strong.
