didn't really enjoy this one..the hero is so annoying and a little bit of a jerk to me, i mean there's a difference between those that i can enjoy but this one? not so much, i was really having high expectations with this one because i like the premise but it just goes downhill every time the hero became such a self prick, the heroine is too cringy for me to bear. (Also she's basically a martyr because how can you love a man that he just means sex to you and he's a widow and recently grieving for his one true love for like YEARS, how can u move on from that
I really looked forward to this book after finding out about the accident in Garrett's book; however, I was very disappointed by the lack of romance. Also, sorry to say this, but Zack was a jerk. I loved Kate (FMC) with her adorkableness and sunny personality. There were so many opportunities to take this a bit further when it came to the intimacy between the two and to “show” how Zack apparently felt about Kate. The disappointment I have is real because I know this uber talented author can take us there! She has done it so many times in other books. I just felt so disconnected while reading it because it didn't hit in all the places it could have. All the other characters' relationships were good and lots of fun banter, but what happened romantically (or should I say, “what did not happen”) between the couple made this book just “passable” for me. I'm thankful that I was able to borrow this book on Libby and even listened simultaneously to the audiobook that was available via Libby, too! The audiobook narration was perfectly done.
