Meticulous research, brought up many things I wasn't aware of and that I'll be researching further for myself. Greatly enjoyed how pragmatic the book was, providing educated opinions on the likelihood/believability of various events/research. He played devil's advocate throughout the book and I think that made a big difference in my opinion in taking this seriously as scientific research.
I started reading this author recently, via the Blake Wilder series. I saw that the Pax Arrington character had his own series so I decided to check it out. Marking this as Did Not Finish, once I hit about 60%. His character is nowhere near as interesting as Blake Wilder, so I'm going back to that series
Awful, what a slog! I skimmed several parts. I kept waiting for it to get interesting. I'd say 10% of the book was mildly interesting. Never again.
Absolutely loved it! This is a must-read for any true crime junkie. Criminal motivations are complex but very interesting.
Struggled to get through it, just not very suspenseful. I'll try another one in the series before I give up
Andrew Child is getting better at capturing the essence of Jack Reacher. While this book was significantly better than his last one, in capturing Jack Reacher and his Sherlock Homes-ian logical deductions, the story wasn't very exciting. A for effort.
Sadly this was quite a letdown after the previous book. But since the first two were so good, I'm going to keep reading the series
Some of the questions were funny but a very detailed, boring minutiae of answering the questions made me give up on the book about 50% of the way in
Finally! An actual Jack Reacher book from Andrew Child. This is hands down the best of the Reacher books that have involved both Lee and Andrew. The only thing I didn't like was the runaway foster kid. Needless plot point.
Interesting history of the programs and some of the science. Multiple senators being involved in the creation of AAWSAP lends credence to the findings.
Very interesting! Highly recommend if you're a forensics or true crime junkie. It was a very well rounded book because it had input from so many different people in so many different roles. Almost everyone mentioned the “CSI effect” (tv show), which has had both positive and negative effects (jury members) since the show came out. Multiple contributors explained what they got wrong on the show “CSI”, which I found especially interesting.
Similar to Odd Thomas novels with some interesting magical realism. Overall I liked it. I've been a Dean Koontz fan for nearly 30 years.
Definitely an improvement over previous book (which was atrocious, just skip it if it's in your “Want to Read” list). However, it still felt like a watered-down version of Jack Reacher. Enjoyed Jack's usual thoughtful planning and Sherlockian deductions & inferences.
Some of it was predictable but I loved it anyway. This is the first novel for the author and she knocked it out of the park! Once I started, I could barely put it down.
Pretty “meh” overall. I kept waiting for “the big reveal” but it was like a sad sparkler compared to the fireworks I was hoping for. This is my first book by the author and possibly my last
Very interesting read. He walks you through various cases he's solved and his investigation tactics are very interesting.
I always look forward to each of Karin Slaughter's books and this latest one did not disappoint. Very compelling
It had a nice mix of romance, suspense, and a bit of sci-fi, classic Dean Koontz. Loved it
