I just could not get past the narration. It did not work at all for me, I will try again just reading the book another time.
Well...this one wasn't for me. If you enjoy political discourse and the whole miscommunication trope thing you might like this one.
Well it seems like most people either love or hate this one. I LOVED it. This slow-burn romance fantasy delivered on every level for me. 100% fun.
Just a really great book. Spooky, thrilling, emotional...everything you could ask for. Couldn't put it down. Read it.
Malibu Rising is that book. A story of a young couple in love and the world created by the collision. A decadent character driven story of a family plagued by fame, addiction, and bad decisions. ..this is every bit the guilty pleasure I wanted in a book. This was a dramatic ride of the interwoven lives of a dysfunctional family and the potential that exists for all people to gain redemption despite their circumstances. Five stars all the way...highly recommend!
WOW!! What an outstanding debut novel! Loved every bit of it, I am looking forward to their next book already. Imaginative and heartwarming!
Whew! This book! I had difficulty jiving with the author's writing style initially. I almost dnf'd it, but about 1/3 of the way in something clicked for me. I devoured the rest of this book. Such a brilliant twist on the slasher genre, so glad I hung with it! 4.25 stars
This book should be required reading on every high school curriculum....read it, get a study guide. Do it.
Okay, let me just say I love Taylor Jenkins Reid....BUT this book was not for me. It was about tennis. ALL about tennis. I just didn't care about tennis or Carrie...so I gave up and DNF'd it. I will read her next book, this one just wasn't my cup of tea.
This is a powerful memoir about a woman who chose to re-write her future after being born into a family bogged down with generational trauma. After years of neglect, abuse and self-doubt she chooses to overcome her past with incredible grace and forgiveness for those who kept knocking her down. The ‘walk' we take with her while reading this will leave you crying, heartbroken, and angry. Ultimately, we land in a place of faith and forgiveness as she forges a new path for herself and her future generations.
This book was utterly terrifying and most definitely thought provoking. What a surreal trip.
