Desdemona Johnson or Dusty is trying to find a bomb when she encounters Reese who is also doing the same. It turns out Reese is the new person in charge and a prince as well. They fight their attraction for each other. Reese is from an alternate earth that brought a whole island with them. Together they are working to build a spaceship to explore the universe. There are some that are trying to stop them and Dusty and Reese try to figure it all out before one of them gets killed.
Even though I had not read the prior books in this series I had no problem keeping up with the action and characters. I thoroughly enjoyed the world.
I was given the book free from the publisher for an honest review.
Joe Grey and Dulcie are talking cats but they only talk to a few they trust. Their little ward “Kit” keeps getting in trouble. Kate, Wilma and Clyde together with the cats try to solve the murders and find the little girl who could clear Max Harper as well. There is a cougar in the outskirts of the town which poses another obstacle. Its a fun read especially if you like cats.
This book was a little hard to get into initially. There are cats represented as people in almost all ways. That took a little getting used to. But I did jump into the series at #6. After a while it was fun the author sort of pokes fun with it. Lots of catnip use. LOL. The main cats Tilly and Hettie run a private investigation company. They are invited to join a music tour for a punk rocker named Patty Sniff. Of course there is a murder to solve. It was rather fun. I will be checking into the others in the series.
Buffy and the scoobies have a new mystery to solve. Xander gets a new job at the drive in that has been renovated. Buffy keeps having weird characters show up to harass her only to have them disappear once she hurts them. Buffy thinks the drive in is connected but cannot figure out how. People are going into deep sleep comas for no good reason. This was a pretty good story. A bit different and enjoyable.
Commodore Weed to launch his new cruise line has given free passage to people who have done good things on his “Santa Cruise” which actually takes place after Christmas. Alvirah, Willey, Regan Reilly, Nora, Jack are going on this cruise. Of course there is trouble afoot. There are two prisoners escaping on board hiding until they can get far enough away that they cannot be extradited. Alvirah just smells trouble in the air and goes on the hunt for missing santa suits. It is always fun to read these stories.
Suzanne is having trouble with co-worker in her real estate job. After a particularly bad fight she winds up dead and Suzanne is the main suspect. Suzanne and her knitting group try to investigate and clear her name. The interaction between Suzanne and her knitting friends is fun. Even though this is the 10th book in the series I was able to jump right in and enjoy it. I wasn't sure who did it until close to the end of the book.
I received this book free from the publisher for an honest review.
I received this book from the publisher free for an honest opinion.
I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading more about these characters.
Austin Cole has a TV show called Spirit Chasers where he proves the existence of ghosts and spirits. Unfortunately he is also attracting very bad spirits and the hurt one of his people. This leads the way for Casey to replace the physic in the show. She doesn't like how Austin tries to control everything and there always seem to be fireworks between them.
The book really doesn't slow down much and is a bit creepy at times. I didn't want to put the book down. The world is very fleshed out and believable. Austin can be a bit annoying sometimes but I love Casey and the rest of the gang.
This is a great resource for those wanting to start to branch out into making their shawls unique for them. She starts the book with a very basic idea of a triangle and then modules to add to it. There are 20 patterns included which are very well written and easy to understand.
As a fairly new knitter I am a little intimidated to branch out and try to design my own shawl but now I feel I have enough information to do so.
Leone is a nerd, gamer and comicbook lover. She owns a store named “Pulp Magic”. Her life is ordinary until a wizard just plops into her store and is running from the Oni. It seems Leone has a latent magic power that gets triggered and she must travel with her friends and the mysterious man to try to get these mysterious tattoos off of her and return to her normal life.
It did drag a little towards the middle but picked up at the end.
I was given a free copy of this book for an honest opinion.
Another Sookie story that I really loved. I love that the story still intrigues me enough to keep going. The gang is up against Victor who is in charge of the area but really wants Eric to be gone because he senses a threat. Eric and Sookie need to be one step ahead of him at all times. We have the fairies Dermott and Claude and her friend Amelia who all keep butting into her love life.
Tyler is a beginning necromancer ever since an accident a few years before. He goes to an uncle's funeral and weird things start happening. Then another suicide happens and then another. Now he is trying to figure out what the heck is happening. His friend Kyle introduces him to a necromancer to train him properly. Then all of a sudden someone or something is trying to kill him. Now he has to learn really fast and he and his friends need to save the world from a specter that is trying to escape after being imprisoned for hundreds of years.
I enjoyed this world and the way it was fleshed out little by little. I loved Tyler's undead cat Davey.
I hope this will be just the beginning of a series as it was very interesting and fun read.
Lia Geiger sells stuff at the Crandalsburg Craft Fair every weekend. Her friend Belinda runs it. When her ex-husband winds up found dead there she is put under suspicion. Lia and her daughter Haley go about trying to find out who actually did the murder and why. Lia's friends at her knitting group try to help as well.
It was a light fun read and I actually did not figure out who did it until close to the end which I appreciate. I hope there will be more in this series to read.
I was given a review copy for free to give an honest opinion about this book.
The main story is psychics or mind readers in particular are rounded up and put into their own town called Brightside. But it really is more of a containment town where there are high fences surrounding it and they are not allowed to leave.
The story follows Rebecca who is 16 and hears about a breakout and is undecided whether to join them or not. In the meantime, there is a serial killer loose who tells her she is next.
This is told in an interactive follow your own adventure method where you choose what path to follow. I was doing an audio of the book and this made it a little difficult because I like to just listen to the story. I found out when it ended that I could have avoided the choices and just started at chapter 55 to follow it straight. The book didn't give that choice in the beginning. I would have preferred to do this for an audio book.
Otherwise the story was interesting but I kept getting taken out of the world when choosing a path.
This book is about the different essential oils, their use and how to combine them for different purposes. I found the book very informative as a newbie in essential oils. It explains certain ailments and what oils to use for them, how to combine them and in what quantities. The uses are fairly basic to get you started. I also loved that it stated to use only high quality oils as they are not all made the same. There is a nice index at the back to help you find what you are looking for after reading the book.
I really liked the layout of the information. It is laid out very clearly without too much information on each page. Also there are recommended oils that you can swap for the ones that are mentioned in each recipe.
Casey is having her college friends up for a retreat in which they will learn to knit. She is worried at how they will view her life now and that she won't measure up to them. Then a murder happens to one of the group and everyone is a suspect. A lot of the characters are a bit annoying but that's what happens when friends grow apart.
This was a fun read and the characters a bit zany sometimes, but I like that in a cozy mystery. I found that I didn't have to read the previous books to understand the characters.
I am looking forward to reading more of the series.
I really enjoyed this book. It is more mystery than paranormal but really enjoyable. It was a very quick read for me. Made my plane trip go by so quickly. The only thing I found a bit annoying was the main male character's speech pattern and the habit of the female lead to correct it all the time. It was cute at first but was happening way too much.
This is a full color book of 44 patterns. The book shows you the picture that inspired the project which I found very quaint seeing old artifacts and a new very similar pattern. The book is divided up into three different sections
1) Norwegian Handknits, 2) Swedish Handknits, and 3) Icelandic Handknits and then has the stories that go with them. I also loved the fact that measurements were given in both imperial and metric.
I have a few projects now inspired by this book.
Henry Kistle starts taunting Eve about where her missing daughter's body is. Kistle is a serious psychopath who has killed many children over the years but has never been caught. Montalvo from the last book and Quinn are locked in a fight to win Eve's affections. Megan Blair a strong physic is introduced in this series without her they would never have found the bodies of so many children. I really enjoyed this one more than the last couple of books. I love the twist at the end.
Triggers: Child death and child abuse
Jade is trying to save Kane who got injured while helping her get out of a demon dimension. But while she is trying to do that it seems Mary got some of her soul and now she has to fight to keep her soul. She has to deal with Angels and Witches and just wants to keep her soul. Her relationship with Kane is developing nicely. I wasn't sure I was enjoying this book until approximately 3/4 the way through it then I could not put it down.
Even though this is number six in the series you can easily pick it up in the middle of the series as I did. The KEY news team is in action as one of the TV personalities decides to show the world how easy it is to get Anthrax on his segment without permission. Then another person in the newsroom gets sick with Anthrax and dies. Was it an accident or on purpose.
I did figure out who did before the end but didn't know why until the end. Lots of twists and turns and I love the short chapters. They are like potato chips.
I was given only a partial sample of the book. From what was sent, the pictures are really nice. Some of the charts were given and they are really nicely laid out. The one pattern they give using one of the samples is a hat which I kind of want to cast on right away. There are notes on how to pick the right yarn for colorwork. According to the Table of contents there are many patterns to choose from grouped in categories to help pick one. If you are a colorwork fan this is a great resource.
Ellie is a fake medium to help pay for her sister's care. She is enlisted by Nicholas to uncover who is pretending to be Xavier a ghost that is talking to his mother and plaguing his home in England.
There are plenty of wacky characters in this story but I especially enjoyed Vivian, the mother, and her non-hospitality manners.
I enjoyed this start of a new series and will look forward to reading more. Although where can it go now that Ellie's reason for doing all of the medium stuff is gone
I have read a few of these books out of order but other than Molly Pink's romances it doesn't matter much. In this book a murder of a real estate agent seems accidental, but Molly is not so sure about that. The neighbors don't want a house in a cul de sac to have daily rentals. But would they kill for that? Molly and her Tarzana hookers are working on a new project for which the pattern is in the book. Molly's son invades her house with his pregnant girlfriend and takes over the whole house. I found I really wanted to smack him. Will Molly finally choose to be with?
Like usual this was a fun read but really didn't expect the ending.
Odelia Poole is able to understand feline so she is able to communicate with her cats Max, Dooley, Harriet and even Max's rival Brutus. Together they help Odelia solve mysteries. Odelia finds a musician she was to interview John Paul George dead in his pool. This was a cute story. I will be looking forward to reading more of this series.
This was an interesting read. It is the coming of age of a boy who has lost his parents, and then his grandfather and is at a loss as to what to do next. Then a talking cat (not everyone can hear the cat) comes to help him learn about life through a series of adventures. The book flows beautifully and it was narrated very well.
