I received this book free in exchange for an honest review.
The book takes place in a small town in Connecticut. Josie Blair has moved there from New York when her Aunt passed away and stayed to run Miss Marple Knits a yarn store and take care of her elderly Uncle Eb. She has made a few knitting friends Evelyn, Helen and a few others. A new antique store is opening next door but there is a murder and Josie starts investigating and of course stirs up some trouble for herself.
I really enjoyed the interaction of the characters. They are fairly well fleshed and even though I had not read the first book I was able to figure out the dynamics of the characters easily. I want to go back and read the 1st book.
Terra Vane lives on the other side of a portal that separates Earth from Portiside where many paranormal entities live. Terra and her werewolf partner are cops on the Portiside side of the portal. Terra uses her visions to help apprehend the criminals. Someone is dealing in a new drug that is making the more violent creatures even more violent. To top it all off, her boss sexy Cole keeps trying to keep her out of the fight.
The world building is very good. I totally enjoyed this book. It was a bit different than the usual paranormals vs human idea. I will be looking for more of this series.
I was given this book for free for an honest review.
There are over 40 patterns to crochet. These include hats, shawls, blankets, women's tops, baby clothes, handbags and doilies. They are beginner to intermediate in difficulty. I really like couple of them to make very shortly. There are color pictures to show the patterns clearly. The instructions give the yarn that is used in the display model as well as the type of yarn. ie. worsted, sport etc. The instructions also give the number of hours it would take to make the item.
I was given an ARC for free in return for an honest review.
This is a story about three young women who do not have any memory of who they are, not even their names. They soon figure out they have magic gifts. They remember they are “Firesouls”, and that they need to keep that hidden from the world because they will be put into a prison for the rest of their lives or killed. They also have some other “Magica” gifts as well that they use to set up a shop call “Ancient Magic”. This is how they make their living.
This is the first book of what I assume to be a trilogy. The first one is about Cass a Mirror Mage. She can borrow another's magic gift but since she always blows things up she tries not to use it. She is very good at using weapons instead. She uses her Firesouls gift (which is a dragon's love of treasure) to find other objects that people want.
In walks Aiden, a handsome shifter, who wants her to find “The Scroll of Truth” which then starts an adventure that could end in her death, prison, in love or all three.
The book is very well written, paced nicely and totally intrigued me. I'm looking forward to the other stories in this series.
P.S. This book contains no sex so it is safe for younger readers.
I read this for a challenge and since I'm not usually a reader of m/m type books I was a little reluctant to read it. I was pleasantly surprised. It was a really good book. Actually it is two short stories that follow each other but easily read as a whole. I found the characters well fleshed out and believable. The stories drew me in and I forgot about it being m/m story. Even the romance in the book was so good that it didn't make me feel uncomfortable.
I absolutely loved this book. I dragged it out so it wouldn't end too soon. Elton goes through his drug and alcohol fueled episodes of life with very frank openness. He also tells a lot of funny stories about celebrities and himself.
On re-read on audible it was even better. I found more I forgot about and the extra chapter is well worth it.
Kestor's mothers dying request was that he find Dr. Ribero and tell him who he is. He finds Dr. Ribero and he gets involved with his Agency of the Supernatural. He feels like a fish out of water there and needs to find his inner talent to get rid of the Green-Dressed Ghost.
The book had a slow beginning but by the end I couldn't put it down and really enjoyed the ending.
Jayla and Dion go with their father on an impromptu spring break to Estes Park, Colorado. They wind up staying in a very old Bed and Breakfast. Jayla starts seeing ghosts in their room. She sets out to find out how she can help the ghost move on. It was a fun read and I thoroughly enjoyed the story.
The story is of two factions of time travelers. The Tesla Institute and The Hollows. Both travel back and forth in time gathering important objects. We get the story through two “Rifters” Lex and Ember.
When Lex's girlfriend is killed during a mission he vows to change back time to save her. Lex and Ember must work together to piece their memories together and find out who they were before they were time traveling. I found this most interesting on how they figured it out.
I also enjoyed the two different approaches each faction uses to travel. I am looking forward to reading more of this series as it goes on.
I jumped into this series at Book 5. Enough of background information was given for me to get a clear idea of who everybody was and their relationships so I was not lost.
Lee is working at a school for TV production teaching students. This takes place in October in Salem Massachusetts so they decide to do a Day of the Dead celebration for the town. During this Lee is getting visions of a dead girl a bathtub which turns out to be the sister of one her students. Together with her cop boyfriend and the sister they set out to find out who killed her and why people keep dying around Lee.
The story moved at a nice pace so I was never bored. I really enjoyed the talk about the landmarks in Salem. I was actually able to look them up on a map. I will go back and read the rest of the series.
The final book in the series. Oriana and Pasha's story moves forward. I loved the ending but it seems there is room left for a possible additional book in the series.
this was an okay read. Very light enjoyable fast read. I will try the next book though. I like the Queen Betsy series better. It did keep my interest throughout the book but it just wasn't up to the level I'm used to from MaryJanice Davidson.
This is story set in a space station called Empyrean. We have a station on the moon and china has one called the Jade Star. Captain Sam Lord is an ex fighter pilot and FBI agent. He is always taking risks which is why he is so good at what he does. There is a cataclysmic typhoon that hits Japan. Then it seems it was caused by something other than nature. There is a force that attacks the Jade Star and seems to be related to the other event. Captain Lord and his crew are racing time trying to figure it all out before all of mankind is wiped out.
The characters and world are fairly well fleshed out and I am looking forward to more of Sam Lord's adventures. It was an enjoyable read.
I received this book free from the publisher for an honest review.
I have not read the previous books in this series but intend to now. This is called a novella but it really is a full length book.
Juliet is a poor lonely girl befriended by Anna who teaches her how to have adventures and the ways of stealing. When her family gets a windfall of money they move to New Addison City where she learns to live the life of luxury. She is pulled into the world of the Runners who are very ruthless group, stealing and murdering whatever they want to.
Into this world comes Johnathan Montgomery a new “Rider” to avenge his parents death at the hands of “Runners”. Juliet becomes involved with him at first to help the Runners but then she discovers that they are even worse than she originally believed. Juliet has to decide who to side with to keep her family safe.
The story is quite adventurous and quick moving. The only problem I have with the story is the ease in which people kill each other, even the first time. There is very little remorse or hesitation in doing so. This world is quite brutal in that way.
I was given this book free for an honest review.

It is 2256 and the world is going to pieces.
Syl (short for Sylvia) is a young woman in a post apocalyptic world where the human/bug hybrids will kill and eat you especially if you wander away from safety at night.
Bastion is from a different but same post apocalyptic world that is run by androids and where human emotions are considered glitches and then destroyed.
Syl and Bastion's worlds collide and they must somehow work together to get out of this alive. Syl finds out you cannot always trust your friends and sometimes you can trust an android, something she thought she would never see.
This is the first book of a series named “The Kepler Chronicles”. I am looking forward to seeing what happens in the next story and where it will go from here.
This book was very different from others that I have read. There were some humorous moments and some sad moments. And a really different type of sex scene.
The main character draws comics and has been having dreams of a gorgeous guy but he is the one giving her ideas for her comic book. Then they seem to be coming true in real life. In between two guys who love her and trying to prove herself innocent she has her hands full.
This is a fairly quick read. I sometimes wanted to smack Shay up side the head. She sort of gets a little bit annoying going back and forth from guy to guy. This ends on a cliff hanger so be sure to have the next book ready. I think I know what is causing the dreams. She was given an antique writing pen set. Perhaps it has powers of its own
This is a really good dystopian story. There was a virus that happened above ground killing humans. They call it reassortment. This causes humans that are left to burrow underground and build a new society. This society is being fractured by different factions. If you are loyal to Beimeni and its absolute rule your reward is to live forever. But the rulers are becoming more and more dictatorial and some people are trying to fight against this.
They have found ways to go into space but not to the surface of their world. They keep trying but have been unsuccessful.
I am really looking forward to the next book in this series.
This book takes place in 2055 . Half of the world in living in an alternate relatity called Dormance. They do not know there bodies are asleep and that nothing in their world is real.
Emery Parker is transferred to a boarding school in Arizona and finds out that she is a Dormant. She meets Torin who is young genius working for the company that wants to keep the Dormant state active and to make even more people Dormant. Together they try to stop this. Emery needs to play two roles one for each side.
Some of the relationships are a bit weird like her roommate who for some reason thinks they are best of friends after just a few minutes of meeting. Her boyfriend who seems to want to control her but also keep his distance from her.
I did enjoy the book but it took me a while to get into the rhythm of the book. Once I did I could not put it down. I am looking forward to reading the next book.
This story is about a teenage girl Lucy Day who was killed in the prior book to this one and becomes a “phantom”. She needs “essence” to keep herself from fading away. She is trying to live her life the best she can and some of her friends know about her situation. One of them Daphne, has abilities of her own. She is a “Ker” and can sense when someone is going to die. Daphne and Lucy go about trying to save people. But they don't realize that this will possibly kill them as well.
I got this book free for an honest review from the publisher. As it was the second book in the series. I went and read the first one before I read this one and I am really glad I did. The book can stand alone but it is so much richer for getting the world building from the first one.
I will read more of this series as it becomes available.
I found this book very difficult to read and follow the story. It had interesting bits but it seems to be all over the place in plot. Even after it is done I am not quite sure about what was going on. I preferred the last third as it seemed to have better pacing and more interesting story. There are parts that never were resolved. Almost seemed like two books that are connected.
This is a great addition to the series. In this one Cornelius is coming into his own and we get more of his story. Really great dystopian series. It is getting even better which I didn't think possible. The story is very different and very well fleshed out. I feel like I have a really great grasp of what it is like underground.
Looking forward to the next one in the series.
This book is set in a made up world of Aluvia. Phoebe is 14 and bored staying at home while her sister the Fairy Keeper, Sierra, goes all over Aluvia. Phoebe has an affinity for the sea and especially her friends Mina and Tristan who are merfolk. Apparently not all is well under the sea and Phoebe has magic inside her that has not been released. There is a dangerous sea creature attacking the merfolk and it will take all of Phoebe will to help her friends.
The world building is very realistic you can picture the world of the merfolk very easily. I became engrossed in the story very quickly. This is a good read for a younger reader as there is no sex or intimations of it.
This book was given to me free from the publisher for an honest review.
The second installment was okay. It had it moments but seemed a bit drawn out. I will still read the next one though.
This is a great continuation of the series. Watching Oriana and Pasha grow into adults and their destinies is fascinating. The interaction of Gwen and Anatosha is very interesting. They all grow up so fast that they don't always have time to grow up emotionally.
