Beautifully written book. A grown up version of The Westing Game and a ghost story rolled together. The character development of all the characters is fantastic. It's humorous and sad at times. It could get a bit wordy at times and in those moments I would lose interest and have to take a break, but coming back to it was like meeting up with a friend.
3.5 stars. Cute follow up. I found Tilly slightly annoying in this one and wanted to yell at her.
Very enjoyable book. A bit predictable at times. I enjoyed Susan's growth from the beginning to the end. Parts of it made me laugh out loud.
I listened to this and LOVED the narration-one of the best audiobooks I've listened to recently. Overall, an enjoyable book-the ending left it for (hopefully) a sequel.
Another excellent middle grade read. Humorous and heartwarming, Stand Up, Yumi Chung tackles being true to yourself and standing up for what you want in a fresh way. Another book to add to my classroom library
Where to start?? I felt like the book dragged for the first half but after sticking with it, it got much better and the action started :) I truly did not like Lyra or Pan at the start of the book (which is saying a lot because I love them in “His Dark Materials”). However, Lyra started growing on me in the second half and is coming back to the character I loved in the first triology. I'm a little upset it ended on a cliffhanger even though I know a 3rd book is coming out. Overall, a solid story with great character development and great action.
I really enjoyed this book. It was slow to start, but after about 100 pages it really picked up the pace and kept me hooked. I enjoyed both Tella and Scarlett's growth throughout the trilogy. A satisfying ending to and entertaining story. This was my favorite book of the series.
This was a fun book to listen to. I liked Ove's growth and development throughout the book. It made me laugh, cry and feel frustrated. The synopsis of the book doesn't do it justice. Another book I would recommend.
Gah! Why did I wait so long to read this book???? I loved everything about it-the character growth, the illustrations, the warmth and humor. This is a perfect book for my 5th graders as they get ready to start middle school and become “the new kid.” I also loved the message of looking beneath the surface and really getting to know someone for who they are but also giving new situations a chance. Another addition for my classroom library.
A gripping and thrilling second book! I enjoyed this one much more than A Wife Between Us. Well developed characters and writing that kept you on the edge of your seat.
I'm honestly not sure how I feel about this book. Parts would grab me and I'd have to read to see how everything fit together and then I'd hit a section and lose interest. The focus on Malaysian folklore was fascinating. Overall, an OK book but probably not one I'd recommend.
A great book that's a quick read. I loved all the characters and Mr. Kermit's growth during the story.
Another fun read for my classroom library. Humorous and sweet. I enjoyed the bond between Otto and Sheed and loved their growth through the book. Can't wait to read the next book.
James Rollins is always good for a fun, exciting read. I found this book to be similar to Dan Brown's Origins in the topics and themes explored. With that said, this was action packed and had me on the edge of my seat. I did feel like the ending was slightly rushed (maybe that was just me though). Overall, very entertaining and fun.
Good book. Enjoyed it and like knowing what happened to the characters from the other novels, especially Jonas and Gabe. The Giver is still my favorite.
Such a beautifully written book. This is about more than dealing with a blended family, it's also about growing up with a blended heritage and figuring out who you are when you come from two very different backgrounds. I loved this book and will be recommending it to my middle school students.
Very good book. The characters kept me engaged and all of the twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat. I couldn't put this one down!
Deliciously creepy :) Can't wait to read this with my boys and add it to my classroom library
Finally! I finally finished this book-I feel like I've been reading it forever, even though it's only been a month. This book dragged to me. It didn't have the same magic as the first book. The characters weren't as developed as in the first book. Overall, it was just OK.
I enjoyed listening to this book. The characters came to life and were well developed. I can't wait to start the next book to hear more of Blue and the Raven Boys quest. The plot twist had me reeling and caught me off guard.
