Very good Mix of detailed storytelling and Action packed scenes. The World building is great and very Solid.
Fantástico livro com uma abordagem alargada à educação de filhos e de pais que são quem mais precisa!
Fun and light read. Always with some jokes to keep it funny but learn something in the process.
Walter Isaacson never disappoints. Although I had to be especially concentrated with the amount of detail described in each page.
I have read this book 3 times (including the previous edition) now and every time it's a new experience... It's also amazing that as you read in the beginning you are plagued by distractions that pop in your mind from your open loops. But as you progress and put those in your system you gain focus and read the book faster and more insightfully. Absolutely recommend that everyone reads it. Take one advice or take them all. You'll benefit either way!
Interesting narrative of the mishaps of software projects. The thing that makes me sad is that almost 15 years have passed and nothing has changed. Everybody is continuously chasing the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow... Software does not need to be an artistically crafted piece of poetry that wows your peers. It just needs to work and provide the minimum lovable product. But goldplatting continues to be the norm...
Fantastic book that sums up a lot of critical concepts needed to succeed in today's IT business.
Interesting but completely biased point of view. From the perspective of simplifying concepts it's great but when you bias those explanations with your political view it loses a little of its appeal as a narrative. Nevertheless the author never hides he is influenced by his origins and political views so you get what is promised.
The content is interesting but the way the narrative is weaved is what I enjoyed the most.
Simon Singh has a way of turning complex concepts into griping narratives that keep you engaged. In line with his other books I also recommend this one.
There is a lot of rehashing from his other book “Sapiens” but it's worth the read. The style is clear and concise and always with an overview covering all topics from each chapter seamlessly. Makes you think definitely!
Great! The Star Wars universe needs the movie on Thrawn to be complete. The story is great. It gives you a different perspective of the empire and most of all shows off amazing characters with lots of layers and the story never gets boring. Recommended reading if you like science fiction!
I feel this is a rehash of the work of Mike Rohde shown in the Sketchnote Workbook. Nevertheless it is cleanly written and gets the message across effectively.
If you are looking into practical insights on how to measure Agile practices progress and take action when needed this is the book to read. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole book and will keep it as reference during day to day work.
The facts about the commercial details are a little bit boring for me but the story behind the creation of the game was great.
Interesting concept but I feel it could be condensed into a much smaller book. All the spiritual part of touching your stuff to “wake” it up really puts me off... But I got some good tips from the method.
It's good to get a different view other than neo liberalism. At points the analogies are tiring and the amount of acronyms took me back to college having to write a glossary to keep checking...
The greatest feat from this book is that Joshua demystifies some feats of mnemonics into something that everyone can achieve by practicing and using the right tools. Nevertheless the human mind is spectacular in all that it can do and sometimes lies dormant in each of us!
Still a fun read. But it would always be hard to create something as surprising as Ready Player One. There are still new things to learn about the characters but it becomes more of a criticism of AI and how it can degenerate.
Great content. The first 30% I did no like so much but from then on it is full of pearls that sometimes seem obvious but somehow you never thought about them... Meritocracy & radical transparency FTW!
More than half of the book is about Steves' experiences and how “great” they were... Then his predictions are very broad and vague...
Interesting on the sense it is not for common book in this area because it is backed up by a concrete study and proper statistical analysis. Some conclusions are counter intuitive but the author uses examples very well to explain the reason behind them.
Absolutely worth the read. The author leads a common thread that keeps us connected even though he tells the story of different people in time. It's daunting to realize how much we have evolved. If this doesn't give you faith in the human race, then not much will!
Fantastic approach to a fundamental capability we seem to be loosing - Doing deep work.
