Technically a reread, I obviously liked it enough to read it at least twice. :-)
I'm in the process of reading all four of the Blue Notes books again, prepping for Symphony in Blue. I love these books and the feeling of the music that I get when I read them. It's funny that I happen to listen to classical music when I read so it is a perfect background for these books.
The characters feel real and connected to each other, the story moving with a flow that felt natural to these particular people. I just enjoyed this read from beginning to end.
I liked this book and am looking forward to the next in the series. I got done in one day although it did seem to drag just a bit about 2/3 of the way in. I really like the main character Taren and his growth through the book. His journey more than anything is what kept pushing me on.
I liked this story, it just didn't live up to the other Pennymaker Tales in my opinion. The main characters were likable and engaging and I liked the chemistry between them. The siblings and Lost Boys were nice side characters. The plot felt light and almost like a chore to get through, sadly. The one jarring note was that I felt there really was no reason Mr Pennymaker needed to be in the story. He kind of was just shoved in there, which feels so different than the other books. I should say that Peter Pan is not a favorite story of mine and I'm not sure if that had an influence on my expectations.
I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this book. I've been waiting for the story of the twins for a long, long time and I'm basically happy with what I got. Although I felt this was mostly Robin's story with a dash of Bobby thrown in, I was ok with that because I was drawn to Robin more. I also would have been fine with each twin getting their own book but I can see why she wrote it this way too. Overall I had a great time reading this and finished it in one sitting. Recommend if you enjoy light romance.
My absolute favorite of all her books that I've read, and I think I'm only missing 2. Something about these characters just clicked with me for some reason. A week after reading it while reading something else I still was thinking of them, wanting to go back and visit.
Tara has a wonderful way of creating characters that I want to meet and be friends with in real life, they stay with me long after I stop reading whatever book of hers I was reading at the time. She can't write fast enough for me.
Rounded to 3.5. I really enjoyed the psychic and crime side of the book, the romance could have used a bit of work. I still enjoyed it enough to continue on to the next one. Victor's voice was so enjoyable I have to continue with it at least one more time.
I loved this book. It was exactly what I was looking for at the time and I have not been able to forget it. So much so that I went looking for books that gave me the same feeling, which I just could not find. I am now re-reading this because I couldn't quite move on. I really enjoyed Boss Cold and Jimmy's relationship and the way it played out. If you like that the mafia boss gets romance too then this could be for you.
OK I don't usually read or enjoy first person POV but for some reason since getting into M/M there have been quite a few good books that just happened to be that way. So I figure, who am I to turn away from a good book just because of the POV.
So I went into this book with a bit of a minus against it already, however right from the first chapter I was laughing so hard I had to put my tablet down to wipe my eyes. Then I'd go back and start laughing again, it was crazy, I thought I would never get through the book. I have NEVER laughed as much in any book ever and I read about a book or two a day right now. I loved the characters and how they interacted with each other and I liked the love story. Most of all though, I loved how much I laughed so hard that my cheeks and ribs hurt. That is why this book gets five stars from me and the author is absolutely is on my top watch list.
This is my favorite Sinners book. I absolutely love Trey. There is just something about him, maybe it's his suckers, I don't know. I love his journey and every time I think about this book I want to go back and read it again. I have to stop myself and give it more time before I get a re-read. That is the highest praise I can give.
Rounding up to a 4.5 only because I was vacillating between a 4 or 5. It just couldn't quite hit the 5 star mark with me, but then I've become very choosy with those the longer I read in this genre.
I really enjoyed this book and I can feel the growth in the authors writing. The character of Jim seems more realized than Ken but I enjoyed the journey both went on to find happiness. I liked that the story really focused on the characters and their struggles, their lives and their interactions more than just trying to get them into bed.
I started this book as soon as it popped up in my kindle as I pre ordered it. I didn't stop till it was finished early in the morning, even though around the 58% mark I did intend to go to bed. :-) If you like this author or you like a good story of two people struggling to find more happiness and fullness in their lives, I would highly recommend this book.
First, I love Tara Lain books. I've read everything she's published except one and I'll get to that eventually. Even when I'm not too excited by the theme or place setting her characters always draw me in and make me fall in love with them. Saying all that, there was a problem for me with F.A.S.T. Balls. Jerry's voice just wasn't strong enough for me, every time the POV switched to him it was like my brain stuttered and had to remember what his personality was supposed to be. Maybe it was that Mick was such a strong personality that he overwhelmed Jerry for me, I don't know.
Otherwise, the story was good. I like the idea of redemption and second chances for those that choose to take them.
The problems I had with Jerry often took me out of the flow of the story, which is why this is a three star for me. If that had not been a problem the story and characters would make it a four.
